Managing IPX/SPX

A number of utilities are available to monitor and manage the operation of SCO IPX/SPX. These utilities are available as either GUI (Graphical User Interface)-based programs or as command-line utilities that produce formatted ASCII output.

NOTE: To use the administrative commands from the command line, your command search path must include /usr/bin. For information on using the administrative commands from the desktop, see ``Accessing the SCO IPX/SPX graphical utilities''.

The utilities enable you to:

Display all current NVT (Novell Virtual Terminal) connections with dnvt(PADM). dnvt is available to all users.
Display the contents of the RIP (Routing Information Protocol) routing table with drouter(PADM). This command also allows the routing tables to be reset. All users may view the routing tables; only root can reset them.
Display information about IPX/SPX and its network media interfaces with getlan(PADM). getlan is available to all users.
Start, stop, or restart IPX/SPX, with ipx(PADM).
Log in remotely to one or more NVT servers with nlogin(PADM). nlogin is available to all users.
Test network connections between SCO OpenServer hosts and UnixWare or NetWare for UNIX hosts with nping(PADM). nping is available to all users.
Reset the routing information table with rrouter(PADM). Administrative privileges are required to run rrouter.
Display available NetWare services on the network that have been advertised by SAP (Service Advertising Protocol), with showsvcs(PADM). showsvcs is available to all users.
Display SAP traffic and the contents of the SAPD server information table with track(PADM).
