Configuring the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP)

Dedicated endpoint characteristics

Use this type of endpoint if you want to use a dedicated serial line to connect to the remote host. As both ends use the same type of endpoint, the link is referred to as a ``dedicated link''. Either the local or remote host can initiate the link. Examples of such lines include a leased line between buildings or a serial cable connecting two machines.
