Configuring timeout values
The following advanced timeout options can be configured:
Maximum link inactivity period- 
Set to the number of minutes before the link will be dropped if inactive.
The default value is ``forever''.
For information that describes specifying which packets reset this
timer, see
``PPP packet filtering''.
 
Wait time for response to requests- 
Sets the amount of time in seconds allowed for responses to
configuration-request and termination-request packets. The
default value is 3 seconds.
 
Maximum configure-request retries- 
Sets the maximum number of PPP configuration-request
retries. The default value is 5.
 
Maximum termination-request retries- 
The maximum number of PPP termination-request
retries. The default value is 2.
 
Maximum configure-nak retries- 
The maximum number of PPP configure-nak
retries. The default value is 10.
 
Maximum redial retries- 
The maximum number of times that UUCP will redial
when trying to set up a link from an automatic dialup endpoint.
The default value is 2.
