npsd(PADM)
npsd --
initialize and assemble IPX/SPX, start daemons, and link streams
Syntax
npsd
[-t]
[-v]
[-f file]
Description
npsd(PADM)
is the NetWare protocol stack architecture daemon.
It initializes and assembles the IPX/SPX protocol stacks, starts
up the other daemons, and links streams together.
npsd reads the file /etc/ipx.d/NPSConfig for its
configuration information.
npsd is started automatically by
init(M)
at system start-up time, or
when
ipx(PADM)
is started.
npsd takes the following options:
-t-
turns on tracking; equivalent to the
track(PADM)
command.
As sapd receives packets from the network, it sends them to the
output file or device specified in /etc/ipx.s/NPSConfig as the
sap_track_out parameter.
By default, this is set to /dev/console.
-v-
Turns on verbose mode, so that nspd displays information
about the networks it is linked to, the networks it configures, and the
daemons it spawns.
-f file-
tells
npsd to read file for its configuration information.
By default,
npsd reads /etc/ipx.d/NPSConfig.
Files
/etc/npsd-
the executable
/etc/ipx.d/fsinfo.out-
the server availability file, created by
sapd.
/etc/ipx.d/NPSConfig-
the configuration file
