Manual dialup endpoint characteristics

Use this type of endpoint when you need to initiate a PPP connection manually using the pppattach(ADMN) command.

A link established from this type of endpoint has the following characteristics:

• the local host machine brings up the link by running pppattach

• it acquires the use of a modem dynamically from a group of one or more modems administered by UUCP

• either the local host or the remote host must be able to specify the IP addresses that identify them
