Configuring automount

To configure automount on an NFS client, you must:

1. Ensure that the remote directories you wish to mount are listed in the /etc/exports file on your servers (see ``Exporting and unexporting filesystems'' for more information).

2. Create at least one automount map in the /etc directory on the client.

3. Start automount by issuing the automount command, either on the command line or through an entry in the /etc/nfs startup script.

We also recommend that you create a master map. Doing so simplifies automount administration and enables automount to start automatically when your system goes to multiuser mode (provided there is an entry for the automount daemon in the /etc/nfs script).
