Configuring Internet Services

Disabling automatic gateway configuration

Your system is automatically configured as a gateway (forwarding IP packets through your system is allowed) if it has more than one network interface--including all LAN adapter cards and PPP connections. If only one network interface remains when a PPP link is disconnected, packet forwarding is disabled.

To disable this automatic configuration, edit these files:

/usr/lib/mstppp/dialout
/usr/lib/mstppp/exec.dialin

Locate the line in each file that contains the command:

   osavtcl  -c  "ObjectReplace {sco ip} dummy {{gateway auto}}"

Place a hash mark (#) at the beginning of that line to disable its execution. You can then use the Internet Manager to configure the gateway status of your machine (on the Internet Services page, press Net, then press Network Routing).
