Basic components of SCO Visual Tcl

The SCO Visual Tcl toolkit combines:

• Motif, the industry standard for creating user interfaces

• Tcl (the Tool Command Language), a simple, popular scripting language, similar to C, which is rapidly coming into wide use

• Tcl release tcl-7.3.

• Extended Tcl release tclx-7.3b.

  This extension to Tcl provides commands for access to POSIX system calls and functions, extended debugging capability, and file handling and scanning.

• SCO Visual Tcl (VTCL) commands which provide support for creating graphical applications.

SCO Visual Tcl relies on the following rendering technologies:

• X11R5 -- Xlib/Xt.

• OSF/Motif release 1.2.4, with additional components: a ComboBox Widget and a DrawnList Widget (multicolumn list capable of displaying pixmaps).

• USL curses, upon which is layered a proprietary toolkit call compatible with Xlib/Xt/Xm called CHARM (Character Motif).
