Rule file precedence

The rule files are searched in the order listed below:

1. Absolute patterns in:

   • desktop file, if the file or directory is on a desktop

   • dynamic rules, in the order specified when they are loaded

   • user rule file

   • system rule file, user type rules, and modules

   • built-in rules
   
   

2. Relative patterns in:

   • local rule file

   • desktop file, if the file or directory is on a desktop

   • dynamic rules, in the order specified when they are loaded

   • user rule file

   • system rule file, user type rules, and modules

   • built-in rules
