General characteristics of IPX
The following should be taken into
consideration before using IPX:
- 
To enable the use of IPX,
the IPX driver must be installed and linked
into the kernel of the system you are using.
If the IPX driver is not installed, the
t_open call fails.
 
- 
The NetWare protocol stack daemon (NPSD) must be running.
NPSD can be started manually with the ipx start
command.
 
- 
The device name for IPX
is /dev/ipx.
 
- 
IPX follows the state diagram
for a connectionless service.
 
- 
If a signal is sent to the IPX
application during a TLI system call,
the TLI system call fails
with errno set to EINTR.
