Using other operating systems with an SCO OpenServer system

Changing the active partition

Another way to change operating systems is to run fdisk and change the active partition to the desired system. When you restart the computer, the operating system in the new active partition will run.

To switch back to the SCO OpenServer partition, run fdisk under the current operating system (Windows, DOS, and so forth) and make the UNIX partition containing SCO OpenServer active. To reboot the SCO OpenServer partition, press <Ctrl><Alt><Del> or the reset key, or turn the computer off, then on.

Because the SCO OpenServer partition must be active for it to operate, you cannot use a bootable floppy disk to boot the operating system. Using fdisk is appropriate for an occasional change of the active operating system.
