Using Directory menus
Directory menu bars provide the following menus:
The File menu allows you to perform tasks related to files.
Among the menu items are:
Find- 
locates specified files.
 
Tree- 
displays the contents of a directory and its subdirectories in a
hierarchical diagram (known as a "tree view"). See
``Using Treeview''.
 
The Edit menu allows you to manipulate icons. Among the menu items
are:
Select All- 
selects all icons in a directory window.
 
Get Out on Main- 
moves selected icons onto the main Desktop.
 
The View menu affects how icons appear in directory windows.
Among the menu items are:
Details- 
shows each file and directory as a mini-icon, followed by its
title, size, and modification time and date.
 
Names- 
shows files and directories as mini-icons.
 
Toggle dot files- 
changes whether or not files whose names begin with a dot (".") are displayed.
 
The Options menu allows you to customize directories. For
more information on customization, see
the Graphical Environment Guide .
Among the menu items are:
Directory Preferences- 
allows you to customize color, font, background, and patterns.
 
General Preferences- 
customizes dialog boxes, the mouse behavior, icons, popup menus,
tools, and devices.
 
The Tools menu allows you to access various tools.  Among the menu
items are:
Toolsheds- 
opens the Toolsheds window, which provides access to
a variety  of programs, applications, and utilities.
These tools are grouped by category, for example, Devices
and Desktop Administration are two of the categories.

Personal Icons- 
opens the .xdt_dir/bitmaps directory, which contains any
icon files you have created or edited.
