New features in this release of NTP

The Network Time Protocol (NTP) was upgraded from V2 to V3 of the NTP protocol, defined by RFC 1305. Significant changes include:

• The new command ntptrace(ADMN), which traces the master time source of an NTP server.

• The maxskew configuration parameter is no longer supported.

• Authentication is now supported, but only using the MD5 authentication scheme.

• Added -d, -p, and -s options to ntpd(ADMN) command.

• Added lpeers control message command to ntpq(ADMN).
