Using the network
Other chapters in this book cover basic network concepts,
configuration, and administration.
This chapter helps you
get started quickly using the network and points you to
additional documentation for more information. It presents
step-by-step procedures for the following basic networking operations:
In addition to the material presented here, you may
also find it useful to:
-
use the network to send mail as described in the Mail and Messaging Guide.
-
access NetWare files, printers, and terminal sessions as
described in the Guide to Gateways for LAN Servers.
-
access LAN Manager files, printers, and terminal sessions as
described in the Guide to Gateways for LAN Servers.
NOTE:
In addition to the networking components included with your
SCO OpenServer distribution, SCO offers two products that provide
distributed filesystem and printing services: SCO Advanced File and Print Server
and Samba File and Print Server for SCO OpenServer. These products
are included on the Optional Services CD-ROM. See the Optional
Services README files for more information.
The procedures presented here
are the surest and simplest if you are
new to using a network. For additional conceptual information,
refer to
``Networking overview'',
and the previous chapters in this guide.
