Managing SCO OpenServer systems with Caldera Volution Manager

Caldera Volution Manager (VM) is a secure, web-based systems management system that runs on Caldera OpenLinux 3.1.1 servers. You can use VM to manage SCO OpenServer systems, as well as SCO Open UNIX 8 and UnixWare 7 systems, and other recent versions of most Linux operating systems.

With Caldera Volution Manager, you can:

VM manages SCO OpenServer through the use of the Volution Manager Client, software that is automatically installed on SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.7 systems.

NOTE: You can also manually install VM Clients on SCO OpenServer Release 5.0.4, 5.0.5, and 5.0.6 systems. These clients are provided as part of the VM product.

The VM Client runs the VM Client daemon, volutiond, which provides support for OpenSLP, the protocol that the VM Client uses to locate the VM Server.

NOTE: For security reasons, the VM Client daemon does not start automatically. For information on starting volutiond, see ``Managing your system with Caldera Volution Manager''.
