DocView browser defaults are stored in the /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/ScoHelp file. (The term ``ScoHelp'' is retained from the previous help system to maintain backward compatibility with the context-sensitive help system and legacy documentation.) These defaults are used when the DocView browser is launched from the Desktop Help or from SCOadmin for context-sensitive help.
The standard defaults are:
! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ! Document Resources ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- *docServer: http://localhost:8457 *libraryDocument: /Navpages/index.html *helpPath: /en *hookPath: /usr/share/doc/OpenServer/en ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ! Browser Resources ! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- *helpBrowser: /usr/bin/browser *busyDelay: 3
For example, you could:
After changing defaults, you must stop and restart DocView with the docview(ADM) command before your modifications can take place.
Resource defaults in the app-defaults directory can be overridden by entries in the $HOME/.Xdefaults-hostname file. If you create this file, ensure that DocView and other default settings are preserved. For more information, see ``The .Xdefaults-hostname file''.
To set a different default browser, edit the /etc/default/browser file as root. The value in this file can be overridden on a per-user basis by creating a $HOME/.browser file set to a different browser or by setting the BROWSER environment variable.
The /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/ScoHelp file is also used when creating context sensitive help for custom applications. For more information, see ``Creating context-sensitive help''.
